The workshop “Encuentros con la Mar” took place in the Polytechnic University of Madrid
ALTUM PARTICIPATED IN THE WORKSHOP ABOUT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF HISTORIC VESSELS.
Technical office of Naval Engineering contributed its extensive experience in the design and construction of historic vessels.
Altum, consultancy and engineering company, with two offices (Huelva and Madrid), intervened last October 29th, in the workshop about design and construction of historic vessels organized by the Spanish Maritime Cluster at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
During this workshop, the draft of the Royal Degree about historic vessels was reviewed; the types and characteristics of Spanish historic vessels, design and construction of replicas of these vessels today were exposed, as well as their motorization. This workshop pretends to teach the evolution of this historic vessels to nowadays, showing how to get motorize them in order to make them able to navigate.
Altum has positioned itself as a leader in the field of historic vessels, with an experience supported since the Andalucía Galleon was launched in 2010, like Nao Santa María, from the same owner, Nao Victoria Foundation.
During its presentation, Altum reviewed the main design criteria that must be taken into account when designing a historic vessel, and the challenge of applying the current regulation to these type of vessels.
