ALTUM participates in the engineering project of the new oceanographic vessel for the national institute of oceanography.

ALTUM has been contracted to perform the various risk analyses that are required by the classification society (Lloyds Register) for several of the ship’s class notations.

The oceanographic vessel Odón de Buen is named after the founder of the IEO and pioneer of oceanography in Europe. This ship will be about 85 meters long and 18 meters wide and will have an autonomy of about 50 days of navigation.

The vessel will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology that will enable it to study ecosystems, habitats and seabed in all the world’s oceans, including the polar areas, and at depths of more than 6,000 meters. In addition, it will be equipped with the most advanced systems to respect the environment.

The new vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2025. It will be the most advanced vessel in the Spanish scientific fleet.
